2-25-11 Strange Sightings

It's been a long week. Ice and snow returned today- no school- gloomy skies-- will spring ever arrive? It's easy to get caught up in your thoughts and miss things around you. My son caught today's picture. Look up and see the "log" within the electrical wire. We had a fun conversation wondering how that occurred. Did the tree "grow" into the wire? Did it fall and get entangled? Who cares-it was a fun thing to see and talk about:) Keep on the lookout for those strange sightings and have the camera ready!

2-23-11 Date night

Taylor and I went out to eat tonight. Haven't done that it awhile. Was kind of nice just the 2 of us enjoying Pizza Hut. Good Choice Tayman!

I know you hate me taking your picture all the time, but someday you'll be glad I took so many shots of your teenage bangs. It will give you something to talk about to your kids hehe.

2-22-11 A Rare Thing

I had a nice Thank you card with this adorable kitty on the front. Picture is nothing that special but the thought behind the card says a lot. How nice to be thanked in writing. That's a rare thing. Made me feel good and I decided to buy some thank you cards to have on hand so I can be sure to thank another person properly when that time comes.

Maybe my friend Billy is rubbing off on me. Spent a few hours in my sewing room and organized all the scraps of fabric my aunt has given me. Makes me wanna quilt:)

2-17-11 Wisdom

...and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— Exodus 31.3

That verse just speaks to my heart. Everyday there is an opportunity to learn and to gain wisdom. To see situations the way God will have us see. To hear what God would have us hear. To use our talents as God designed.

I found these glasses a long time ago in my old country barn and have displayed them for many years. I have always wondered what these glasses have seen and the wisdom brought to the man who wore them.

2-16-11 Oops

Someone was sleeping at quality control I am afraid. Ha Ha. Taylor and I poured out a few M&M's and we both laughed out loud when this orange guy came spilling out.

2-15-11 Spring Flowers

Just love the gorgeous yellow of this sign of spring. A co-worker received flowers at work yesterday and this cheerful sight is just outside my office. It sings to my soul!

2-14-11 Valentine's Mouse?

Happy Valentine's Day! I came into the kitchen to see this holiday brownie sitting on the kitchen counter. Funniest thing ever--where's the mouse? Taylor fessed up after he broke out into giggles. Love you too honey:)

2-13-11 Baptism

Dexter was baptized today. What a proud moment for Grandma. I had trouble focusing with the camera for all the tears in my eyes. I love that little boy so much. I am so happy he loves Jesus! Praise God.

2-12-11 Tea for Two

I just love the pink color of these antique tea cups. They were Mallory's grandmas on her daddy's side. Lois loved her dishes and made every time a special time. I liked that about her. Tea anyone?

2-11-11 Celebrate!

Today was a day of celebration. We celebrated those individuals who have developed their voice and have become self-advocates in their own lives. These people may have a disability-but they have learned how to tell others what they need to live better-more independent lives.

We also celebrated the care-providers for individuals with disabilities -- these people have championed for others and have made the world a better place because of their compassionate and nurturing way of life.

A day of celebration. A day of deserving recognition. A day to remember.

2-10-11 Baby Dexter

On a roll with favorite photos in my house. This one is Mal Mal giving her first born Dexter a lovely mommy kiss. Some of you may understand the power of seeing your first born having her first born. A moment in time that I will cherish forever:)

2-9-11 Me and Cow Cow

Another favorite photo- another favorite memory. Mallory and her trusted Cow Cow. We had went on a camping trip-- We took the canoe across Alum Creek and slept out under the stars on this island. It was magnificent! But the biggest treasure was Mallory the next morning- smiling from ear to ear with her 2 front teeth missing and the excitement she contained when she excitedly told me that "cow cow did not get scared one bit!"

My dear Miss Mallory. I love you.

2-8-11 Favorite things

A fellow blogger is devoting her pictures in Feb. to the things she loves. That got me to thinking -I have this picture of Taylor at work.

This picture of Taylor is one of my favorite photos and one of my favorite memories. It was a hot summer day (back in the day when I was teaching and had the summers off). Taylor loved helping me in the garden and we had just picked a bunch of cherry tomatoes. He settled himself on the lawn chair and picked all the green stems from the tomatoes.

I just love his little dimples and the glint in his eye. I can hear him scolding the dogs for jumping up to help him-(can you see Maggie, my golden retrievers head in the corner of the photo?), and giggling when the dogs snatched a tomato from his little hands. I can smell that wonderful aroma of fresh tomatoes and can feel the warmth of the hot summer sun as we sat on the back patio at my little country house.

I miss those summers -- but I am thrilled I have my photos to bring up those sweet memories.

2-7-11 Lost at Recess

It was foggy coming home from work today. I didn't have access to my camera but snapped this with my cell phone. Why you ask? Because a year ago today it was foggy and when I picked Taylor up from school he shared this funny funny story with me. He said (and I mean soooooo innocently) that "it was so foggy at recess -I thought we were going to lose the teacher."

I wrote this funny line in my calendar because it was just tooooo funny. Then- don't you know-it was foggy. Had to capture that moment of giggles---again.

2-6-11 God's Love

Look at what I saw outside my window. It's a few days after the snow storm and a bunch of fallen limbs were cleaned up yesterday at my neighbors yard. I looked out my usual window this morning and there I saw this heart shape topped with a bit of snow. A wonderful reminder that even in times of stress, God loves us.

2-5-11 Coloring with Grandma

2-3-11 Sunshine and Diamonds

The sun was out today! The remaining ice glistened in the sun like diamonds from Heaven. A jewel to see with trees broken and fallen limbs which made yards to look like war zones. A "true diamond in the rough."

2-2-11 Ice Storm part 2

Day 2/ no school and no work. Pretty to look at- but looks are deceiving with no power for many. Luckily we had power and got to enjoy Mallory and the boys for the day. I was so busy-I forgot to take pictures of them making cookies with Grandma-- my bad:(
